THE
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
The legal requirements
for getting married in Vanuatu are quite straight forward and
are as follows:-

An "Intended Marriage Form" must be lodged 3 weeks
prior to your wedding, plus: -
Copies of each party's Birth Certificate; and
Copies of each party's Passport; and
You must pay the requisite Application fee
.
The
above steps have been summarized in the Notice below.

If
you are an Australian Citizen, your marriage in Vanuatu
will also be legally recognised in Australia, provided you
comply with the requirements referred to here.

In
order to get married in Vanuatu, you need to: -
1. Complete
an Intended Marriage Form; and
2. Lodge this form 3 weeks prior to the wedding
ALONG
WITH copies of: -
(a)
Birth certificates;
(b) Passports; and
IF
you have been previously married, your Divorce Certificate
or former spouse's Death Certificate. |

NOTE:
We recommend that the wedding couple be in Vanuatu for 3
working days prior to the ceremony (although this is not
a legal requirement as such).

To Apply For An Australian Birth (or Death) Certificate
If
you don't have a copy of the necessary Certifcate, you
will need to apply for one from the Registrar of Births
Deaths & Marriages in your home State or Territory.
